JOBS
Everything on Omega has a price, and it’s no different for its newest residents. If your character wants to get anywhere on the station, they’re going to need to find some way to pull their weight and make themselves useful.
We organize jobs in levels. Characters start out with a Level 0 job, and can work their way up towards Level 3 from there -- or buy a higher position if they’ve got the funds.
LEVEL 0
Upon arrival, all characters are assigned the position of repair worker and assigned to a damaged area close to their residence. This position provides a minimal salary -- enough to pay Aria for protection and feed yourself, but not much else. If the work isn’t completed, you don’t get paid. Characters with Level 0 jobs will find it hard to purchase anything of note.
LEVEL 1
Low-level civilian work falls under this level -- anything that will pay a decent living wage, but nothing to write home about. Shop clerks, food service, janitorial work, construction, mine worker -- there’s plenty of opportunity on Omega, so long as you’ve got the work ethic to go along with it. When the merc groups are looking for more bodies to throw at their enemies, they’ll open themselves up, but you're not going to be able to get in at this level otherwise. If you’re not interested in working with others, you can always offer your services as a freelancer -- so long as you find someone willing to pay.
Keep in mind that once you’ve left Aria’s protection, you’re going to have to pay someone else for it -- or pay her a higher fee to keep the other mercs off you. It won't take long for the merc groups to discover you're without it, and you'll have to pick one of them to pay off if you want to survive.
LEVEL 2
These jobs come about in one of two ways: either you’ve worked your way up, or someone’s noticed you and given you a leg up. This could be by showing skills that interests a group on the station, such as the merc groups on the station or an information broker looking for a new agent. If you want to keep things legal, there are plenty of manufacturers and corporations that do business on Omega. If you want to start your own merc group, you’ll need enough bodies to protect yourselves from rival groups shutting you down. Or, if you're interested in less-risk pursuits, you can open your own establishment once you've amassed enough capital for it, like your own shop or restaurant.
Once again, if you’re not in a merc group or have someone sponsoring you, you’ll have to put up the credits for sufficient protection. A job at this level gives you a decent amount of spending money, though -- if you’re willing to put up with the life-or-death risks that might be associated with it.
LEVEL 3
This is where the stakes get high -- you’ll make much more money, but you’re just about guaranteed to have a target painted on your back. At Level 3, you’ll find yourself embroiled in the endless battle to topple Omega’s hierarchy, and unless you choose sides with someone willing to help you out, you won’t last long. The major players of Omega will know your name or your associates’, and you’re as likely to get caught up in their business as you are to end up on the wrong end of a gun. You’ll have access to the finest things Omega has to offer, so long as you can keep your neck. You might be on the higher tiers of a merc group, a new information broker coming onto the scene, or even someone looking to get in with Omega's politicians. Whatever it is, you'd better prepare yourself.
MERCENARY STATUS
Tensions are running high among the mercenary groups, but the Blue Suns have the upper hand right now. The ranks of both the Blood Pack and the Talons are currently diminished.

how do you keep track of money?
We don’t. We’re mods, not bankers. The actual numbers involved are handwaved; you can assume that your character’s wage reflects the work they do. You do need to be realistic about it; your character is not going to move into a private penthouse if all they do is repair work.
what about npcs?
We leave most of that up to you. We do play some NPCs, but there’s no way for us to cover every last alien on the station. You’re free to interact with the setting as you’d like. For example, you can have your character lose a bet with a krogan and have to work off the debt, or offer to smuggle goods for an elcor in exchange for a nominal fee, or fall in with a gang or vorcha. Additionally, if you want your character to have a sponsor for recruitment into a mercenary group but there aren't any PCs available to sponsor, you can request an NPC sponsor in your job request.
Obviously, abuse of the system will result in mod action, but the goal is fun, not micromanagement.
If you’d like your character to advance to a higher level, please fill out this form. If you have any questions not answered here, use the FAQ or speak to a mod.

Character name: Haruto Souma
Character journal:
Current level + job: 0 | repair worker
New level + job: 1 | freelancer
How are they getting this job? Here is where Haruto makes the offer to Omega residents to help anyone out with anything they want.
Is your character moving out of assigned housing? No.
Do you have any plans for this job? For the most part, Haruto's just working to keep himself busy. Aside from that, he's still stuck in his "I want to give people hope" mode that he's always in and anything he can do to make the place a bit brighter is fair game. He won't get wrapped up in negative activities or anything that he senses might be particularly bad, but he'll know what's going on around Omega and get to know a lot of people.

Thank you for being patient with us!

Primarily, perhaps he can be listed for working as a bodyguard, while taking up anything else as a side job. He still has fairly strong morals though, so he wouldn't get involved with mercenary groups and risk getting involved in all of that, but his primary focus has always been to help people -- especially innocents.

Haruto's job level will be raised to 1 and his official title will be that of bodyguard. If you have any further questions or ideas on how you would like to play this out, please don't hesitate to let us know, and we will get back to you in a more timely fashion than we have previously.
Again, thank you for being patient with us, and we look forward to seeing this played out in game!
