RULES

one. don’t fuck with aria | be respectful.

This is a roleplay game on the internet. We are all here to have fun. We expect you to be both respectful and responsible. Disrespecting your fellow players is not tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to, wank, flaming, bullying, and passive-aggressive behavior. We expect you to be direct and upfront about your issues, and to handle them in a mature manner.

Failure to abide by this is grounds for removal from the game. We operate on a three-strike system, but we reserve the right to remove a player without warning if the offense is egregious enough.

two. stay in character | have a hmd post.

We have an application system for a reason -- we’d like you to portray your character as presented as they are in canon. Changes in your character’s personality should be natural, not forced.

HMD, or how’s my driving, is used for constructive feedback. You are required to have a HMD post in your journal in order to play here. You are free to screen comments and disallow anonymous posts if you wish, but you must be open to receiving feedback. Feedback given should be polite, constructive critique -- HMD posts should not be used for flaming or bullying.

If you have an issue with a player’s characterization and they have not responded to reasonable critique, please bring it to a mod.

three. use appropriate warnings | be tasteful.

This is not a horror game, and it’s not a sex game. That’s not to say that there won’t be dark elements in the game -- it comes with the territory. However, you must warn for any content that isn’t worksafe and put it behind a cut, as well as content that is upsetting or triggering. If another player or a mod asks you to put something behind a cut, don’t be an asshole and just do it.

All sex logs must be between characters who are 16 or older, and players who are 18 or older. No exceptions.

four. IC != OOC | ICA = ICC

You are not your character. Other players are not their characters. Keep them separate. A character’s opinion of yours does not necessarily reflect that of their player.

In-character actions have in-character consequences. If you go on a killing spree, someone’s going to crack down on you, whether it’s Aria or your fellow PCs. All characters will be held accountable for their actions, and attempting to get out of it is not allowed.

five. no godmoding, no metagaming.

You cannot decide what other characters do, and other players cannot decide what your character does. The only time this is acceptable is with permission. Any supernatural abilities are moot in the face of godmoding.

You cannot use OOC knowledge that your character does not have. Just because you know that that yellow mouse thing is a Pikachu does not mean your character does. Be realistic about what your character does and doesn’t know.

six. respect character restrictions.

While we accept canon, canon AU, player-created AU, original, and original Mass Effect characters, we do have some restrictions.

We disallow the following:

  • Playing multiple versions of the same character, no matter how dissimilar.
  • Threading with yourself.
  • Real people, unless they are from a specific fictionalized version.
  • Applying for more than 2 characters per round.
  • Playing more than 5 characters overall.
  • Mythological characters.
  • Fandom OCs not originating from the Mass Effect universe.
  • Character squatting and serial apping and dropping. We expect you to play the characters you app.

seven. be active.

Activity check is held the last three days of every month, during which you are expected to provide at least one proof of activity per character, or take a strike. Characters do not need to make activity in the month they were accepted, but are required to at least link to their acceptance comment. Hiatuses of one week or more will exempt you from activity. We require one of the following per month:

  • 1 network post + comments
  • 1 log post + comments
  • 2 network threads, each with a minimum of 7 comments of yours
  • 15 comments in someone else’s network post
  • 5 comments in a log post

Please note that the original post does not need to be made in the month of activity as long as the minimum comment count does fall within the current activity month. If you fail activity, you will receive a strike, which will be wiped if you complete activity the following month. Two strikes and you’re out. However, if you repeatedly fail activity or hiatus through it, we may speak to you about your activity and require more to stay in the game. We may also ask you to hold off on apping new characters if you are having difficulty making activity with your current ones.

eight. have fun!

Remember -- this is a roleplay game on the internet, and something we all do as a hobby in our free time. It is meant to be fun above all else, and if for whatever reason it’s not, we’d like to know about it. The moderators are here to keep things running smoothly, and if you’ve got an issue, we want to hear about it.
